Well, Winkie had a visit from Dr. Dwight Leland Paris, along with Dr. Daniel Moon today. They came and prayed for Winkie, and gave us some money for food. Winkie is finally off of all of his drips! He now has only the drainage tube from his pleural cavity on his left side and two drainage tubes at the bottom of his abdomen (where the incision for the surgery was made) to come out. They've taken him completely off of the antibiotics, which means the majority of his infection is gone (actually I think they said it was all gone, except for along the cut which is still healing [which they are applying iodine to every day]- this healing is probably the main thing that they are waiting for). He's making progress and people here are just amazed at how fast it is. Day by day he's regaining muscle control and strength. He's able to pretty much feed himself now, and was able to brush his own teeth this evening. Building back his sitting/standing/walking strength is a process, and standing up for 5 minutes for him is probably something like going for a 30 minute run for someone of average fitness.

Winkie had a lot of visitors today. Besides the visit from Dr. Paris and Dr. Moon this morning, pastor Hong from Harvest Shalom also visited, along with one of his youth pastors and various others from the church. I can't wait to take him out to a meal in a restaurant, but I know we're still a little ways off from that.
